This paper elucidates current position of customs statistics of Ukraine. The stages of customs statistics development are highlighted.The role and place of customs statistics in the system of statistical sciences are signed out. Recommendations regarding separation statistics of smuggling and customs violations, as a new branch specialized in customs statistics are provided.
