SOCIAL INNOVATIONS IN EDUCATION – DRIVERS OF HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT

Abstract: The article analyzes the theoretical approaches to understanding the essence of the category “social innovations” in the educational space and shows what role they play in the development of human capital. The authors define “social innovations” and explore existing approaches to their classification. The importance of higher education in the development of human capital and the introduction of new social initiatives have been demonstrated. The necessity to carry out deep reforms of the education system and focus on additional missions of universities with a focus on inclusive development, research and entrepreneurship are substantiated. The role of social initiatives in increasing the competitiveness of Ukrainian universities is highlighted.
